Events & Activities
With an aim to sensitize Vandanites about Mother Earth, the school celebrated "Earth Day" on April 22, 2016. Various activities highlighting the theme 'Save Mother Earth' were conducted. 'Badge-making' activity was conducted for students of class VI. Creative and tech-savoy students of class VII participated in 'Powerpoint presentation' depicting the topic 'Save Ailing Planet'. Class VIII students presented different skits representing the theme of the day. The celebration was a good exposure for students to showcase their hidden talent. Students also realised the need to come forward in order to Save Mother Earth.
Prince and Princess Party
Boys and girls were dressed up as Prince and Princess respectively on 4th July 2015 for welcome party. Kids got a warm welcome when they joined the school after vacations. Children looked very charming in their attire and also enjoyed the sharing party.
Our Tiny Tots celebrated â€˜Mangolicious Dayâ€™ on 6th July, 2015. Children could not resist eating the summer fruit Mango (The King of the fruits). The colour yellow was introduced through this activity.
Celebrating Blue and Green Colour Days
It is very useful to celebrate colour days as kids learn specific colours through this activity. On 10th July and 21st July green and Blue colour days were celebrated. Kids were very excited to carry the Blue colour(Toy/Cap etc.). Salad activity was organised where kids enjoyed green salad brought in their lunch box.
EID was celebrated on 17th July in school where kids brought sweets and wore beautiful dresses Kurta Pyjama (Boys) and Salwar Kameez (Girls). All children enjoyed Dance and wished Eid Mubarak to each other. English Rhyme Recitation Competition was organised on 29th July, 2015 Children very confidently recited beautiful rhymes with action and props.
Fruit Chaat Party
This activity was organised in VKG to enable children to taste and recognize all fruits. Kids enjoyed eating fruits and recalled their name too.
The Investiture ceremony of the Primary Wing of VIS was held on August 1, 2015 in the school auditorium. The Ceremony commenced with the arrival of the school Chairman Mr. V.P. Tandon, the Vice Chairman Mr. Harsh Tandon, the Academic Director, Mrs. Akanksha Tandon and the Co-ordinator of Primary wing Mrs. Pooja Dhawan. The parents of the newly elected school council were also present to bless their wards. The solemn ceremony began with the traditional lamp lighting followed by â€˜Guru Vandanaâ€™.
The Academic Director Akansha maâ€™am motivated the new senate members to perform to the best of their abilities. She also congratulated the new leaders and their parents. A skit â€˜Think like me, Be like meâ€™ was enacted by the budding actors through which a message was conveyed that parents are the best sculports of their children.
The newly elected Council administered oath and were bestowed the badges and sachets by the Chairman, Vice Chairman and the Academic Director. Vaibhav Taneja of class V was appointed the Head Boy and Ria Sharma was appointed the Head Girl. Followed by them were the Vice Head Boy Krish of class IV and Vice Head Girl Ria of same class. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by the Head Boy.
With the aim of apprising students of classes X. XI and XII about various career options, the school, organized a Career Fair on October 25-26, 2013. Experts from different fields were invited to guide the students at the two-day career fair.
A career exhibition was also held with stalls on hospitality sector, law, management, fashion, banking, law and accountancy. Skill based activities were also organised at the stalls which were the highlight of the event as they helped students understand their skills and capabilities for choosing a particular career. The school students too, along with teachers, put up four stalls and presented details of some career options in the form of slides and presentations.
The Principal, Mrs. Vandana Tandon, and Chairman, Mr. V.P. Tandon opined that the interaction would help students take a career decision at an early stage and will ease their pressure of finding the right career path.
Students were not only briefed about the traditional options, but also about new and upcoming fields such as new media, corporate communication, robotics and nanotechnology.
Some of the sessions held were on fashion industry, mass communication, medicine, engineering, para-medical and defence.
Among the prominent speakers were former AIIMS professor Dr. Renu Misra; ex-professor of IIT, Delhi, Mr B. P. Singh; Lt. Col. N Shankar; BHEL AGM Mr Chetan Swarup Sharma and faculty from NIIFT, Ms Bhawna Kapoor and Ms Neeti Banga.
Workshops & Orientation Programs
Conducted by School Counsellor in 2013:
- Career Fair:Experts from various fields were invited who shared their views with the students and parents.
- Career orientation program for class X students: To help students understand the various options available in each of the streams of their choice and ability.
- Workshops on various topics conducted as below:
- Importance of Child Development for Kindergarten teachers
- Enhancing Parent-Child Communication for parents of class X students: To help the parents to understand their adolescent child.
- Enhancing Reading and Writing Habits for primary and secondary classes.
- Time Management for students of class IX-XII
It is rightly said that "The teacher consumes herself to light the path of others"Â.
Perhaps this is the reason why teachers hold a special place in the heart and lives of the students. Students of VIS grabbed the opportunity to show their immense respect and love for their teachers on 5th Sept.2013 and organised a grand "Teachers' Day" celebration.
The most charming and energetic performers were the tiny tots who dressed up as their favourite teachers.
The senior students were equally eager to show their emotions. They gave eye-catching performances, depicting the different stages of childhood and adolescence.
The day ended with bringing broader smiles on the beloved teachers' faces. Awards and titles by class XIIth students enthralled the audience.
The day was full of fun and surprises and would always remain etched in the hearts and memories of both,students and teachers.
A grand farewell was organised for the students of class XII on 8th Feb 2014. The event was entitled "Astral Melange" signifying a collection of stars. The students in their magnificent & smart attires truly resembled and represented themselves as the stars of the occasion. They were treated to a spectacular entertainment programme of dances, singing, band performance, title presentation etc. They thoroughly enjoyed the special treatment extended to them. The highlight of the occasion was the crowning of Ms. & Mr. VIS after a well contested personality contest. The students were blessed by the guests of honour, Mrs. Vandana Tandon and Mr. Ved Tandon. A session of dancing brought the celebrations to the end.
The Annual Prize Distribution and Cultural Function was held at Thayagraj Indoor Stadium, New Delhi as a confluence of music & drama. The chief guest of the function Sh. Mahabal Mishra, Member of Parliament, declared open the function by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Mrs. Akansha Tandon ,Academic Director , accorded a warm welcome to the chief guest and guests of honours. The Chairman ,Sh. V. P. Tandon, and Manager ,Mrs. Vandana Tandon honoured them with bouquets and mementos. The cultural programme began with a group dance performed to melodious devotional tunes. Clad in colourful costumes the children of the Primary Wing, gave their performance based on the theme "Seasons" and won the hearts of the audience.
The Vice-chairman Mr. Harsh Tandon presented the school annual report for the session 2012-13 giving an account of the academic & cultural performance of students and the laurels they brought to the school. Ved Educational Welfare Society was privileged to honour Hon'ble Deepak Mishra I.P.S, Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) with the O. P. Tandon Memorial Award for 2013. Shri Mahabal Mishra, M.P. along with office bearers of the Managing Committee, conferred the award on Hon'ble Shri Deepak Mishra, on the occasion.
Senior students of the school presented a historical play titled 'Alexander the Great' depicting the life of the legendary warrior exemplifying that when one passes away nothing but the memory of one's goods deeds goes with him. At the close of the function Mr. Harsh Prakash Tandon presented the vote of thanks to all the guests and parents for sparing their valuable time and gracing the occasion. He also thanked the staff members for their whole- hearted cooperation in ensuring the grand success of the function.
Kindergarten - Orientation Session
An Orientation programme was conducted in the school on 15th March. The objective was to introduce the parents to the unique UKG learning system. They were introduced to the methodology & the working system of the school. This helped them develop a better understanding and coordination with the school to ensure holistic growth of their child.
The school VKG stood proud of a new beginning, as our little ones moved forward from Kindergarten to Grade one. The little ones who received their first diplomas would be our future high school graduates, moving ahead to yet another new beginning in their life chapters. For each kindergartner, the school wished a wonderful & special experience as they entered grade I and continued onto each new year later on. It was with pride that the school celebrated kindergarten Graduation Ceremony on 12th March. The students of nursery bid farewell to the "little graduates"Â with a special farewell song.
